It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Residents and members of Notes of Joy could definitely feel the holiday spirit that filled the air today at the Benton House.

The holidays are fast approaching, and we are so glad that we were able to spread some more holiday cheer with our friends at the Benton House today.

Music is so powerful in that it evokes emotions and memories associated with certain melodies. As we played, I could feel the warmth of a fireplace and hear the sound of jingle bells.

From my conversations with the senior residents, I could tell that my friends at the Benton House had similar reactions.

Here are some photos from today:

Garrett, a former Notes of Joy member and a current freshman at the University of Georgia, returned home for winter break and wanted to join us today to perform for the residents at the Benton House!  Thanks Garrett! So great to see you! (Gabby's really excited too!)

Notes of Joy wishes you a WONDERFUL holiday season!
We cannot wait for our next performance in January!

A Winter Wonderland

Walking in a winter wonderland....
Well... Not quite.
But pretty close.

So maybe there wasn't any snow, and it was 55 degrees out, and there was plenty of sunshine...
BUT Santa hats, Christmas lights, holiday tunes, and warm welcomes were all there today at the Sunrise of Johns Creek...
Basically... a winter wonderland.

Today marked the first holiday performance of the 2013-2014 Notes of Joy season! (yay!)

It was so heartwarming to hear our friends at Sunrise singing along to the Christmas carols that we performed.

Here are some pictures from today:

{The Christmas lights accidentally fell on Carson, and Bill was able to capture the moment!}

We are missing several Notes of Joy members in this picture (they had to leave a little earlier), but we wish you a happy, warm holiday!!

Once Again at the Cohen Home!

We were reunited once again with our friends at the Cohen Home.
And what a beautiful reunion it was.
As always, our days were made being able to perform our favorite tunes and share the joy that music brings to us.
Here are some pictures from our performance today:
The support and appreciation of our audience never fail to leave me in awe.
Pictured above are the individuals who inspire the mission of Notes of Joy.

Members warming up before the performance

And here come photos of our favorite part of this entire experience:
Greeting and talking with the senior citizens who have contributed so much to the society we enjoy today.

Akhil and Mark catch up.

Akhil and Naomi-- so sweet.

A group picture!

...and a classic blurry funny photo :)

Starting in December, we have holiday performances lined up!
We cannot wait to perform holiday classics while wearing Santa hats and reindeer ears! :)

Until next time!

Cohen Home

A beautiful day was made even better because of the senior citizens at the Cohen Home.

It was such a pleasure performing for our friends who we have not seen for a few months, as this was our first performance of the new school year at the Cohen Home.

In addition to catching up, we met several new individuals who were new to the Cohen Home.
For example, Loraine, who is pictured below (in photos 2 and 4), only recently made the Cohen Home her new residence, and she says she plans on staying there!

The staff and senior citizens at the Cohen Home are so incredibly welcoming and supportive, so it's always such a pleasure performing for such a wonderful group.

Here are some pictures from today!

A quick snapshot of our audience after the performance was finished.

Akhil and Yebin with our new friend, Loraine

Mariana, Hyerine, and Jennifer loving their conversation with their sweet new friend.

My sweet friend, Loraine!

Richard and Shamsya joined the conversation!

Listening to precious stories!
Today was a first-time Notes of Joy performance for Elizabeth, Aida, and Gazal!
It looks like they loved it :)

More conversations~

Amy, Annie, Richard, Lillie, and Shamsya enjoying their time with their new friend at the Cohen Home.

It's always such a blessing being able to perform and meet such a beautiful group of people.

We cannot wait for our next performance, which will be at the Cohen Home again on November 16.

See you then!

Sunrise of Johns Creek

What a rainy day!!  Our hair, clothes, and instrument cases got wet during the rush from our cars to the building, but our time at Sunrise of Johns Creek was the perfect rainbow to our day.

We enjoyed our second performance of the year, performing for senior citizens at Sunrise of Johns Creek.

It was great catching up with our friends at Sunrise, as this was our first performance at Sunrise for the 2013-2014 school year.

This was some of our members' first performance, and it's no surprise that they loved it.
The senior citizens are so incredibly sweet, and it brings us so much joy to talk with them and let them know that we appreciate their company.

Here's a photo from our performance!

And Janet was able to capture a sweet moment of Grace and Poyoung with their new friends following the performance:

We cannot wait for our next visit to the Cohen Home on October 5!

Until then! :)
