2019-2020

Hello, my name is Lauren Shim. I am a senior at Johns Creek High School, and I am thrilled to be co-president again this year for Notes of Joy. Amie and I have been participating in Notes of Joy for years, and we are always excited for heartwarming performances and memories. I've been playing the violin since I was 9 years old, and I intend on using this experience for the community. Notes of Joy helps us to spread our love for music to the community, and I am so excited for another year with our ensemble and the community!

Hello everybody! My name is Amie Wang, and I am currently a junior at Johns Creek High School. I am so excited to be a part of Notes of Joy this year again! Playing music every weekend with my friends makes more memorable memories each time. I've been playing violin since I was 8 years old, and I've been in orchestra for nearly 7 years now. I look forward to making happier memories as more performances come. Being a part of this club is one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had, and I have learned so much from this club. Here's to another great year of spreading joy through music!

2017-2018

My name is Alex Pu, and I am currently a senior at Johns Creek High School. I joined Notes of Joy my freshman year -- the same year I started playing the double bass. I was enthralled by the prospect of combining my newfound passion, music, with community service. Being able to perform whilst spending time with senior citizens is truly one of the most rewarding ways, that I have found, to spend your Saturdays.

Hello everyone! My name is Jessie Hertz, I am currently a senior at JCHS, and this is my fourth year in the Notes of Joy club. Notes of Joy enables me to spread happiness through one of my favorite activities – playing the violin. Joining my peers at weekend performances and conducting cheerful conversations with the residents afterwards, fills my heart with joy. Thank you all for your support and we look forward to continue spreading love and happiness through music!

My name is Daniel Kim, and I am a senior at Johns Creek. I've been playing the violin ever since I was in 1st grade. I have since always enjoyed playing the instrument and making music. My time in Notes of Joy is unforgettable. It brings me joy to go to senior homes and watch the audience listen to our music. It was inspiring for me to see people with such different backgrounds to get together for a common cause. I hope this club continues to exist and make people smile.

2015-2016
Hello everyone! My name is Lauren Ha, and I'm so excited to be a part of Notes of Joy again this year! I am now a senior, and this is my fourth year in the club. Every moment in the club is so heartwarming and talking to the residents has always brightened up my day. I am so grateful to have met such wonderful people through our love for music, and I'm looking forward to having many more unique, shared experiences! Thank you for your positive feedback and continual support. Let's make this year the best it can be!

My name is George Pan, and I'm a senior at JCHS this year! It's my second year with a leadership position in the club and I'm excited for the new year! I've been in the club all four years of high school, and it's especially fulfilling to see how much it has grown! I'm a member of the ASYO and GYSO, so music is definitely something of a hobby. Notes of Joy has been such an incredible opportunity, and I hope next year's presidents can continue our legacy. Here's to another great year of music!

Hi everyone! My name is Janet Mao, and I'm so excited to be a part of the Notes of Joy club again! I am a senior this year, and this is my third year in the club. I've played cello since the 4th grade, and I've played piano since I was 6. Music is one of my passions, and I'm so blessed to be sharing the joys of music with others in our wonderful community. Being a part of this club has truly been one of my favorite things about orchestra. I've learned so much, and I believe that these experiences have helped shape me into a better person. Outside of music, I am an avid golfer, and I'll be continuing my golf career at Northwestern University (GO 'CATS!).Thank you so much for your continued support, and we look forward to sharing our love of music with you this year!

Hola, Hello, Bonjour! My name is Mariana Rodriguez, and I am a senior this year at Johns Creek High School (Go Gladiators!). I started off on the violin, but after one year I switched to the playing the viola. Although the violin is a beautiful instrument, I prefer the warmer tone that the viola creates. I have been playing the viola for nine years, and I have been in orchestra for eight of those years. I love being able to make music with my friends, but I love this club even more because we share our love for music with the Johns Creek community. Every visit to a nursing home is wonderful and inspiring! Not only do I enjoy playing music, but I love languages and volunteering. I hope everyone has a wonderful year, and thank you for supporting us!

Hello everyone! My name is Lauren Ha, and I’m so excited to be a part of Notes of Joy again this year! I’m currently a junior at Johns Creek High School, and this is my third year in the club. I’ve been playing violin for a little over seven years now, and I have been in orchestra for seven years as well. Other than playing violin, I enjoy playing piano and guitar! I love music, and being able to spread my passion and joy for it through this club is absolutely amazing. Not only is spreading the love for music great, but also meeting such kind people throughout the Johns Creek community is just a wonderful experience. My favorite pastimes (other than music of course) include reading, eating good food, and meeting new people! Thanks to everyone who continuously supports us! I’m so excited for another fantastic season!

Hey, I’m George Pan. I’m excited for the possibilities that this year offers. This will be my third year with Notes of Joy and the fourth year since its founding, so I’ve been able to see the club grow over the years. It’ll be our first year without one of our founding members, either Jenny Di or Priscilla Kim, so with a heavy heart, I’m still happy to say that we’re hoping to reach new heights this year. I’ve been a part of Johns Creek’s orchestra since my freshman year and a violinist since the beginning of my memory and now I’m in my junior year. I feel that this club offers an experience like none other and for that reason, I have high hopes for this club and for this year. Here’s to another amazing season!

2011-2013

Hi everyone! Our names are Priscilla and Jenny, and we are the co-founders and co-presidents of Notes of Joy. Here's a little bit more about ourselves:

The following information was written in 2012.  Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Jenny Di last Spring as she graduated from Johns Creek HS and is preparing for her new chapter of life at the University of Southern California.  Good luck to you, Jenny! We love and miss you!!!

Priscilla Kim (L): Hey everyone!  I'm currently a junior at Johns Creek High School, and I've been playing the violin for 9 years!  I come from a family with a strong musical background, so music has always been a huge part of my life!  This past summer, I went to GHP (Governor's Honors Program) in Valdosta for four weeks, where I majored in music (violin), and my love for playing and performing really grew there. I also love hanging out with friends and family, watching crime shows, playing Just Dance, and simply relaxing!!  I don't play any sports competitively (I wish I could say I did), but I enjoy watching basketball and soccer! :)  Get to know me if you'd like!!  I love meeting new people!!

Jenny Di (R): Hey guys! I'm 18 years old and currently a senior at Johns Creek High School. I've played the cello for almost 10 years now and have enjoyed every moment of it. Through all my years of making music, Notes of Joy has definitely been my most rewarding experience. I live a very active lifestyle, so you can always find me running, biking, or playing with my puppy Simon. I'm a foodie at heart, but unfortunately I'm also a messy eater. I love history and especially love reading historical fiction. I also teach swim lessons at the YMCA and am a mentor at the Rainbow Village transitional housing community. Please feel free to contact us anytime!

Our club sponsor is the wonderful Mr. Young Kim. Find out more about him here.
