Silent Night

Busy Weekend for Notes of Joy!

It was a weekend full of music and joy for Notes of Joy members and senior citizens at Sunrise of Johns Creek and Ivy Hall!
We loved and enjoyed every minute of it!

------------------------------------------
This past Saturday, December 8, we visited our friends at Sunrise of Johns Creek!
We had a blast playing our favorite holiday pieces!
We even had Jenny, Karen, and Lauren lead the senior citizens in singing along to some Christmas carols!!
Here are some pictures from our performance!

As much as we LOVE performing for such a wonderful audience, we always get super excited to talk with them afterwards and just have a good time!

Not only was this day made special because of great music, but also because it was the birthday of one of our members, Noah Johnson!  Happy 17th Birthday Noah!!  We love you!
After the performance, several Notes of Joy members went to Zaxby's with Noah to celebrate his
special day!

--------------------

Then, today, Sunday, December 9, we visited our friends at Ivy Hall, which is located almost directly in front of our high school!
We had a great time playing for such an appreciative audience!
Here are some pictures from our performance today!
You might notice the unique seating arrangement.
We were tight on space, so we had to be creative! ;)

In addition to our usual holiday repertoire, we were all in for a special treat!
Noah Johnson played a solo today (Prelude of Bach Cello Suite No. 3), and it was absolutely breathtaking.

We finished our performance with "White Christmas" and as usual, quickly put our instruments down to talk with the senior citizens!
It really is such a blessing to have such a wonderful, appreciative audience!
This is why we all do what we do!
Oh, and we could not help but take a picture next to a beautiful Christmas tree at Ivy Hall! :)

~~~~~~~~~~
We just want to thank all of the Notes of Joy members for an AMAZING 2012 Notes of Joy season.
We cannot wait for our next season next semester!
A special shoutout to all of the senior citizens at the various nursing homes for being SUCH a wonderful audience.  Your love and support are what keep us going!
It is truly an honor and blessing to be able to serve those in our community with our music!
We hope each of you has a wonderful holiday season!!
P.S.-- If you're not doing anything this Friday evening, come out for a wonderful night of music at Johns Creek High School at 7:00 pm!
The Johns Creek Philharmonia Orchestra will be giving its preview concert for the International Midwest Clinic in Chicago!!
Spreading Holiday Cheer at JCHS!
We hope that everyone had a great start to their day! :)
This morning, several members of Notes of Joy played together in the front rotunda of our school!
We performed many of the holiday classics that we played at the Benton House two days ago, such as The Little Drummer Boy, Jingle Bells, and White Christmas!!
Our goal was to spread some holiday cheer and brighten the mood of everyone in our school!
Performing for others surely always makes our day!
We will definitely play in the rotunda of Johns Creek several more times before the year is over!!
We love our school, and we love giving back!
Unfortunately, we were not able to take pictures of our performance today, but if anyone took any, feel free to send them to jchsnotesofjoy@gmail.com!  We would appreciate it!
Have a wonderful day!! :)
We hope you enjoy! Have a great day.
Start of the Holiday Season at the Benton House!
We hope that all of you had a great Thanksgiving and are looking forward to the upcoming winter holidays! Whatever you celebrate, all of us here at Notes of Joy offer you season's greetings.
In fact, we kicked off our holiday season by going over to one of our favorite nursing homes, the Benton House of Johns Creek. The residents are ALWAYS so supportive and kind. You can't ask for much more from an audience! We played a selection of Christmas carols as well as a few classics, such as White Christmas and the Theme from New York, New York.
Our very own Noah Johnson even played a Bach solo for the audience!  It was absolutely amazing, and the audience and Notes of Joy members were so impressed!
  Enjoying the holiday cheer.
It's hard not to feel the holiday spirit when you're playing Jingle Bells!
Here's a shot of the residents enjoying dinner and a show!
After the performance some of us were still in the mood to continue the music!
We LOVE talking to our friends at the Benton House!!! They are such a joy!!!
They truly bring us so much happiness, and playing for such wonderful people really makes everything so enjoyable.  They honestly made our days.
 Chatting with a few new faces and many familiar ones.
We always enjoy talking to the lovely people of the Benton House.
They are SO sweet!!
 In fact, hearing their feedback is what keeps us going.
 A few stragglers post-performance, gathered around the Christmas tree.
 Happy Holidays!
From the Notes of Joy Members
*PS- If you're going to be at Johns Creek High School on the morning of Tuesday, December 4, we'll be playing in the front rotunda from 7:50-8:20.  Come and check us out if you have time in the morning!
Cohen Home Fun!
We had tons of fun at the Cohen Home this weekend! The performance started at 2 p.m., and it was a great time for all of us.
 Don't our shirts look great?
It was sort of bittersweet, too, for we may not play some of our favorite tunes until next semester! That's because the holidays are fast approaching, so we will be replacing some of our regular pieces with holiday music!  We begin rehearsing Christmas and Hanukkah songs this week!
Next time you see us, we'll be playing our favorite holiday songs!
We cannot wait!!  We plan to have one of our members lead the senior residents in singing Christmas Carols, like Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and even Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah!
See you guys soon!
Homecoming Week!
It's been an exciting past couple of weeks for us here at Johns Creek. This week is our school's homecoming week, and we've been doing a lot of celebrating.
 Here's us working hard on our banner to show off our school spirit!
 Christie worked really hard to make sure everything looked good artistically.
 We had a large group of people helping, but they had to leave to get dinner :(
 The finished product!  (We are so proud!)
Admiring the product of our success :)
 Co-President/Co-Founder pride!
Here are some pictures of members of the Johns Creek High School Orchestra showing off their school spirit.  You may recognize some familiar faces as members of Notes of Joy! :)
 Celebrating class themes! Seniors wore Caribbean clothes while juniors dressed up in their Asian attire.
 Country Western Day!
Cartoon/Superhero Day! Look how awesome everyone looks!
See you next time,
WHAT'S "IN" RIGHT NOW
We are super excited to announce that we have received our new "Notes of Joy" t-shirts!
Here's a quick preview:
Wonderful Performance Today at Ivy Hall!
This afternoon, we went to Ivy Hall Senior Living for one of our best performances yet!
We also showed off our new "Notes of Joy" t-shirts for the first time!  :)
It was also one of our longest performances we've ever had, thanks to all the additions we made to our repertoire. We played three new pieces that the Johns Creek Orchestra will be performing at the International Midwest Clinic in Chicago this December. Such additions included Skip to My Lou, Terra Nova, and an arrangement of The Trout.
We didn't forget about our old favorites like Over the Rainbow, though! In fact, many of the residents sang along to several of the pieces that we performed, such as Over the Rainbow and Georgia on My Mind. We love having an interactive audience!
We especially loved reconnecting with our friends. As much as we love playing music for the residents, getting a chance to connect with them and talk to them is one of the most rewarding effects of Notes of Joy. It's what makes Notes of Joy so special to us.
We'd like to take this time to thank all of our members for dedicating their time to this activity. We know that as high school students, it's very hard to find extra time with so many extra-curriculars and so much homework. It is especially difficult to find time for other people. However, this dedicated group of students continuously choose to spend their weekends helping others in their community, and we commend them for that. Join us in thanking our members whenever you get a chance to see one of them. You can find a list of them under the "Members" tab up top. They truly are a special bunch.
Thanks for all your support.  Have a great week!
Benton House of Johns Creek!
We hope this message finds you well on this fine Monday!
Fall is in the air, and so is the music that Notes of Joy has been playing! This past weekend, we visited the Benton House of Johns Creek. The Benton House was our first performance venue ever, so it holds a special place in our hearts. The residents are always so kind and encouraging. We love getting to visit with them time after time.
 Here are some shots of us playing:
  As much as we love playing, getting to talk to the residents is always the best part of our day!
 Janet entertained a whole group with a great story.
 Priscilla's catching up with Ruth, an old friend.
After our performance some of the group went out to eat as a group at Pepperoni's Tavern!
Waiting patiently for our food. We're a hungry bunch!
  Gabby, Jenny, Layla, and Mariana were happy that they finally decided what to order.
 Daniel, Janet, and Priscilla pose for the camera.
 Daniel and Mark shared a plate of 30 wings!
We wish everyone could have come, but unfortunately we are all busy students with countless things to get done everyday. We always seem to find time for music, though.
Have a great week and we hope to see you at our next performance!
