The Cohen Home

Many students went to the Cohen Home to have our second holiday performance of the year! Unfortunately, George and I were unable to come because we had our own concerts, but I'm so happy to hear that everything went very well!! Everyone said that they had a ton of fun and, of course, that is what we are all about. :)

Big shout out to Annie Su, Alex Yang, and Akhil Upad for helping out today!

Our next performance is at the Sunrise of Johns Creek on December 12th at 2:00 PM.
See you all there!

The Lovely Benton House

Today was our first holiday performance of the year at the Benton House! We played pieces such as "White Christmas," "Chanukah is Here," and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." The residents seemed to really enjoy our new selections, and we were happy to see that they sang along!

Daniel, David, and Drew meeting a new friend!

Carson, Elizabeth, and Jennifer sharing holiday memories!

We're all smiles with Mrs. Elgart and Mr. Harris

Silly picture :)

Our next performance is tomorrow at the Cohen Home at 2 PM.
Hope to see everyone there! <3

Back to the Cohen Home!

Today, we went to the Cohen Home for our second performance of the year!

We played chamber music instead of following our usual routine, so students displayed their musicality and technical capabilities!

Our next performance will be at the Parc at Duluth on October 3rd at 2:00 PM.
See you there!

First Performance of the 2015-2016 Season!

We are so excited to start performing again for the new school year!
This year, we have 60 members in NOJ, the most we have ever had! I'm so excited to see them share their amazing talents throughout the community and spread their passion for music :)

We were welcomed by the sweet residents of the Benton House. We saw many familiar faces as well as new faces!

Loved talking to Ms. Nancy Elgart!!

Our next performance will be at the Cohen Home on September 26th at 2:00 PM.
See you all then!

Back to Sunrise!

Yesterday, we once again had to perform for the residents of Sunrise of Johns Creek. It's so great to see so many familiar faces, and we love catching up with the residents after.

We are so excited to have some band members join us at performances! Pablo and Joey, two wonderful alto saxophone players,  prepared some jazz classics for the residents, and they (and us string players) loved it. They've been doing an amazing job. It's fun to have them play and provide some variety and more familiar tunes for the residents to enjoy.

This lovely lady loves to chat with us, and she teaches us so much. She always gives us wonderful insight on life and always has such a happy and optimistic attitude. It is always a pleasure to see her in the audience and listen to her stories after the performance. We can't wait to see her and the residents again!

Back to the Benton House!

Yesterday, we got to come back to perform at the Benton House. We brought a big crowd to the Benton House, and we had an equally large audience to play for.

We started the program with some saxophone solos performed by Pablo! He always surprises us with something new to play, and it's great to be providing the residents with some variety in our program. We look forward to having more "band geeks" join us in performances in the future!

After our performance, we got to catch up with some of our favorite residents. It is so fun to see familiar faces in the crowd and get to chat with them. We hope that they love seeing us as much as we love seeing them! Some were so sweet to pose for a picture with us!

We will be back to the Benton House on April 18th!

We hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday and a happy new year!
Our Chamber Orchestra will be performing at the GMEA Conference later this month in Savannah, GA. Due to preparation for the event, we will not be having any performances in the month of January. However, we can't wait to get back into the swing of things in February!
